In 1991 Thelma & Louise blazed across theatres, creating a firestorm of controversy. At that time, some viewers shared their visceral reactions to the film, responding to a US survey. Twenty-five years later, the same viewers were tracked down by filmmaker Jennifer Townsend and invited to share their present-day perceptions. Connecting past to present, Catching Sight of Thelma & Louise is a multifaceted portrait of the modern female condition in the US – and a bright reflection on the power of film.
